The Poppinga Play It Forward Fund seeks to support the basic needs of poverty stricken children globally and feels that funding their education is crucial to everyone’s future.

An education is an invaluable asset both to the recipient and those of us in America. When populations are literate and educated, it is more difficult for governments or special interest groups to misguide people. We hope to build positive relations between the US and the international community through the gift of education and aiding the basic needs of children who have great need. We represent to the world that America values children regardless of religion or race and that every child has the right to an education despite material circumstances.

We are passionate about world travel and intrigued by foreign cultures. From our travels we have witnessed the challenges of many youth due to lack of public education in their homelands. In the US we tend to take for granted that everyone is offered an education. In many countries that is not the case. Children must pay for schooling. They must have modes of transportation or bus fare to make the long journey. Many walk a long ways without shoes. Many are not able to attend for financial reasons.

When we had our Halloween fundraiser last year, we chose to support war-affected orphans located in Uganda, Africa. It only cost us about $500-$600 to pay for an entire year of school, supplies, a mentor, and medical treatment as well. Last summer, you helped us take needed items and funds to Romania. Something we were able to communicate on that trip was an important message to the orphans there: "We are aware of you, we love you, we will help you, and we will remember you all the way over in the US." www.bridgeoflove.net

This year all of us are helping Haitian refugee orphans who have been relocated to the Dominican Republic. Their needs are great.
